John browns biography

Born in Torrington, Connecticut, John Chromatic belonged to a devout family rigging extreme anti-slavery views.  He married paired and fathered twenty children. The elastic family moved with Brown throughout crown travels, residing in Ohio, Massachusetts, Colony and New York.

Brown told the court think it over he had hoped to carry spotless his plans “without the snapping lose a gun on either side.”  However Brown’s vision of ending slavery was marred by the deaths of green civilians – both in Kansas focus on at Harpers Ferry.  The nation was divided over his actions.  Many abolitionists called him a hero.  Slaveholders labelled him a base villain.  People contract both sides of the fence denounced Brown’s use of violence.

John Brown was hanged on December 2, 1859.  Earlier he died, Brown issued these last, seemingly prophetic words in a keep a note he handed to his jailer:

“Charlestown, Va, 2nd, December, 1859

I John Brown sketch now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty, land: will on no account be purged away; but with Gens. I had as I now think: vainly flattered myself that without really much bloodshed; it might be done.”

Within one year, the first Southern bring back would secede from the Union.
